It is the absolute indifference to the suffering of any being that mystifies me. We are most certainly doomed as a species, not just because of the human-caused climate change, but also due to the many ways we have overshot the carrying capacity of the planet. In the time that we have left, I think that we must simply return to love and kindness for all of creation. As mamas everywhere tell us as children, "you may not be the smartest or the strongest or the most popular kid in the class, but you sure can work to be the kindest." Maybe that's the answer...choosing to be kind to all with whom we share the planet, because that is the only thing that is going to get us through the tough times ahead.

Yes, I couldn’t agree more. Our indifference to the suffering of other living beings and lack of compassion is really the root of all that is wrong in our world- “Love and kindness for all of creation” is the only thing that might save us- It seems so clear… so strange how relatively few of us see it, so strange that we have the opportunity to live in Paradise and yet we have turned it into hell for so many living beings…

This was a fantastic article, couldn’t agree more with almost everything you said. It would be such a solid narration to a film. I think work like this is so important yet I don’t see any way in which we’ll turn things around for birds, even with the advent of lab meat it doesn’t seem like all that many people are really even interested, but who knows maybe things will change with that. I never considered broiler chickens to be giants at 6 weeks but that’s actually what they are, I previously considered them very oversized but giant is a better way of putting it. Giant birds plagued by even more gigantic cruelty and apathy. The only part of the article that seemed off to be was when you said the mortality rate for covid was about 1%, it’s actually a lot less than that and almost nobody died solely from Covid, just about all the deaths were people who were already headed towards death with 4 or more underlying health conditions, plus very few people here got the proper treatment that was available and as even reported in even Time, Washington Post, and other publications the the hospitalization and death stats were greatly exaggerated. Anyhow keep up the great work, you’re a fantastic speaker for the animals and you surely don’t sugarcoat how messed up this whole situation is.
